Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream Review
Overall Thoughts
This is definitely one of the best moisturizers I’ve used and is one I reach for when my skin is feeling particularly sensitive or if I have a perioral dermatitis flareup. It’s lightweight but also very nourishing and calming for my skin, which is exactly what my dehydrated and sensitive skin needs.
The ingredients are packed with antioxidants that help protect the skin, replenish moisture levels and heal inflammation so it’s great for day and night use. It absorbs easily into the skin, leaving my skin feeling smooth, plump and soft.
Formula
As we saw above, the formula of this cream is honestly next-level. It’s packed with everything you need in a moisturizer! I love that it not only helps to keep my skin barrier strong and calm inflammation, but since it has peptides, it’s also anti-aging which is a huge plus!
Texture
At first glance, the cream looks to be pretty thick and rich, but once you start to spread it out, it turns into a silky, lightweight (almost gel like) texture that sinks into the skin within a few seconds.
One thing I really love about the cream is that it spreads across the skin so easily – you really only need a tiny bit of product for your whole face!
Scent
There is a slight herbal/plant scent but I never notice it when I am applying the cream. I can only smell it when I actually put my nose up to the jar. I usually stay far away from any products that contain fragrance and this does not bother me at all – it’s super faint.
Packaging
The Klairs Midnight Calming Cream comes in both a jar and tube packaging.
The jar packaging is a 30ml or 1oz glass jar with a plastic lid and it does come with a scoop to make it more sanitary.
The tube is a 60ml or 2oz plastic tube, so you get more product with the tube version.
Price
The 1oz jar retails for ~ $23 on Amazon, but you can get it cheaper at other Korean beauty retailers like YesStyle.
The 2oz tube retails for about $27 on Amazon, but again the price will vary depending on the retailer. Ulta carries the tube version of the cream and it retails for about $31, which is slightly more expensive than the other retailers.
Performance
This has become one of my favorite moisturizers for when my skin is feeling sensitive or irritated. It’s really soothing and calming, which is exactly what I need.
It manages to not only calm irritation but also nourish and protect too, which is exactly what you want in a daily moisturizer!
I do find this cream nourishing and moisturizing, but I’m don’t think it would be enough for dry skin types. Once you apply, it’s very lightweight, so I think it’s better for those with combination, normal or oily skin types.
I do not suffer from a lot of redness, so I can’t comment much on that, but I will say my skin always looks a little brighter and healthier after using this cream. I’ve also seen some incredible before and afters on rosacea and redness prone skin!
Final Thoughts
I love this cream and highly recommend it for anyone with sensitive skin. If you are someone who does not suffer from sensitivity, irritation or other skin conditions like rosacea, I don’t think this cream will be as beneficial for you. I think there are other moisturizers out there that will have more ingredients tailored to your specific skin concern.
I will say it’s great to keep on hand for any sunburns or for using after procedures like lasers or microneedling to calm the skin.
How To Use Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream
Wondering how do you use Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream? You can use this cream just like any other moisturizer! For daytime use, use after any serums and before sunscreen. For nighttime use, use as the last step in your routine (unless you’re layering this with a thicker moisturizer or sleeping mask).
Can I use Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream Everyday?
Yes, you can use the Klairs Calming Cream everyday! It can be used 2x a day for maximum soothing and calming benefits. It can also be used intermittently when your skin is feeling stressed out, extra sensitive or sunburnt!
Is Midnight Blue Calming Cream A Moisturizer?
Yes! This product is a moisturizer designed to hydrate, soothe and moisturize the skin. However, I don’t find think this cream would be rich enough for drier skin types, so I think it can be used alone on combination, normal or oily skin types, but if you have drier skin, you’ll likely need to layer this with a heavier moisturizer.
Is Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream For Dry Skin?
Although the Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is formulated for sensitive, oily and acne prone skin, it can still be used on dry skin types. It has fatty acids, plant oils and shea butter which are all incredible ingredients for dry skin. Although it’s a lighter cream, it can still help to keep dry skin moisturized, but you may need to layer it with a more nourishing product.
Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream Review: Wrap Up
For those with sensitive, irritable or acne-prone skin, this is a great product to have on hand. It’s very soothing and calming while also being nourishing and moisturizing for the skin. If you’re seeking something more intensive for dry skin types, I would recommend looking elsewhere as it might not be rich enough for your needs, but it does layer beautifully with other prodcuts, so you can certainly use with a more nourishing formula! I hope you found this Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream Review helpful!
