Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Water Cream Review

When it comes to finding skincare products that are right for your skin, moisturizers are probably one of the hardest to find. You have to find one that gives you the right amount of moisture without being too heavy. And one that doesn’t leave you feeling greasy, parched, or worse, broken out. Not to mention finding a well-formulated product that contains good ingredients, as opposed to bad ones like alcohol, fragrance, etc. It’s a lightweight moisturizer that delivers hydration, calming and soothing without being heavy on the skin. Keep reading for my full Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Water Cream Review.

Plus, it includes some good ones for soothing and moisturizing. Since its launch, the Oat So Simple Water Cream has become a cult-favorite, best-selling and top-rated moisturizer. So we’re going to dive in and take a look at this water cream in detail and give it a review.

The Krave Water Cream is an innovative moisturizer that delivers excellent benefits and leaves skin feeling hydrated. It’s water-based formula makes it perfect for those with normal to oily or combination skin types, or those who are looking for a lightweight moisturizer. However, its advanced formulation will also work well on dry skin, but may not be enough on its own for drier skin types.

What Is A Water Cream Exactly?

Since the launch of Tatcha’s Water Cream, water creams have become very popular because of their texture, lightweight hydration and plumping of the skin.

While most all moisturizers contain water, a water cream is special because it contains humectants which work to draw moisture into the skin. Hyaluronic acid, glycerin, honey and trehalose are some common humectants found in many moisturizers and other skincare products. But

A water cream contains even more humectants than usual, and in higher concentrations. This additional boost of hydration makes it perfect for anyone with dry skin or those experiencing the onset of signs of aging—like fine lines and dryness.

Furthermore, their jelly like texture spreads across the skin without tugging and sinks in quickly – leaving skin plump. Since they are water-based, water creams are very lightweight but pack tons of hydration into a cream.

A well-formulated water cream will provide tons of hydration with little product, making them last a long time.

The Krave Beauty’s Oat So Simple Water Cream contains trehalose as a humectant to draw moisture into the skin to instantly plump skin with hydration. Along with other amazing ingredients (which we’ll get into later), this water cream is one of the best!

Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Water Cream Ingredients

One of the things that makes the Oat So Simple so special is that it’s made of only 9 ingredients! Most moisturizers have huge ingredients lists full of ingredients that could potentially cause irritation, acne and other skin conditions. So if you have sensitive skin or reactive skin, this moisturizer is perfect for you. It’s also perfect for those with acne-prone skin, as well as those who want to avoid products that contain alcohol, fragrance, essential oils, etc.

Krave Beauty is a clean beauty brand that focuses on creating simple, yet effective skincare products that are formulated with skin-loving ingredients with none of the bad stuff. This cruelty-free brand is set on creating a new standard of skincare: simple and minimal. No more “filler” ingredients that cause sensitivity, acne and reactions. No more essential oils and fragrance. Just naturally sourced ingredients that are good for the skin. And that’s it! With that in mind, here are the (nine) ingredients in Krave Beauty’s Oat So Simple Water Cream Moisturizer:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, 1,2-Hexanediol, Trehalose, Behenyl Alcohol, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Avena Sativa (Oat) Meal Extract,

Let’s take a look at what all these ingredients do:

  • Water – pretty much in every skincare product, it acts as a solvent to help other ingredients dissolve better
  • Butylene Glycol – also acts as a solvent and also helps the product absorb into the skin quickly and give the product a silky texture with lots of slip so it glides on the skin
  • Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride – one of the most popular emollients that helps to moisturize and soften the skin
  • Squalane – an incredible moisturizer that’s identical to what’s found and naturally produced by our skin to keep it moisturized and healthy
  • 1,2-Hexanediol – aside from giving me flashbacks to my organic chemistry days, this ingredient acts as a humectant and emollient to help draw moisture into the skin and lock it in. It can also help with preservation so the product stays fresh longer.
  • Trehalose – a plant sugar that helps to bind water to keep skin hydrated and moisturized
  • Behenyl Alcohol – helps with the viscosity of the moisturizer. Basically it just helps keep the texture/consistency nice.
  • Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer – a polymer that helps to create lightweight gel-like textures in moisturizers
  • Avena Sativa (Oat) Meal Extract – an incredibly soothing ingredient that helps with sensitivity, irritation and redness caused by environmental l aggressors, skincare products and more

That’s a pretty dang good ingredients list if you ask me. If you run this through any kind of cosmetic decoder like Cosdna, Skincarisma or Inci decoder, you’ll be plesantly surprised to find good ratings on all these ingredients.

Since this moisturizer has limited ingredients, it’s a great choice for those with sensitive, reactive skin types as well as acne and breakout prone skin. With less ingredients, there’s less chance of experiencing breakouts. And if you have other skin conditions like eczema or rosacea, this water cream is perfectly suited for hydrating the skin without a ton of ingredients that can cause reactions.

This cream (and brand) is also vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance, essential oil and colorant free.

Let’s take a look at the product itself. The main thing to note about the Oat So Simple Water Cream is how incredibly lightweight it is, but extremely hydrating. It almost feels like applying water on your skin.

So how did this moisturizer fare for my dry, dehydrated, sensitive and acne-prone skin?

I’ve been using it morning and night for a while now and just repurchased my second jar. And I love it! It’s not heavy on the skin at all and leaves my face feeling soft and nice after applying it. Although it’s thick in texture, once you massage it in, it sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave skin feeling tacky, greasy or heavy – just hydrated and smooth! This cream is suitable for all skin types including sensitive and acne-prone. The ingredients are great, it performs really well, the price point is on point. The only con? Availability. Right now the Krave Beauty brand is only available on their website and Soko Glam. But since this clean beauty brand is becoming so popular, it’s only a matter of time before it hits shelves at Sephora or Ulta.

Since dealing with perioral dermatitis, I’ve really simplified my skincare routine while I focus on healing my skin. I’m using a prescription Azelaic Acid but no other exfoliants. That said, if I were using something stronger like tretinoin, I don’t think this moisturizer would be enough on its own. Right now, it’s the perfect amount of moisture, but once winter comes around, I will definitely have to pair this with a heavier cream.

Will I stop using it because of this? Most likely not. I love the intense hydration it gives my skin while helping calm irritation from my dermatitis. I’ll keep using this product for the hydrating, but add something else on top to keep all that hydration locked in and to help strengthen my skin barrier.

Also keep in mind that I am not using any serums, toners, essences, etc. right now and so my skin may be more dry because of this. If you use more products, this moisturizer may be perfect paired with other hydrating skincare products.

While the Oat So Simple Cream was formulated to work for all skin types, it is a lighter cream, so those with dry skin will likely need another heavier moisturizer or will need to pair this cream with an oil. My skin leans to the more dry side, so I reach for this cream in the morning and pair it with a facial oil at night.

I’m a fan of this moisturizer and it’s definitely become part of my regular skincare routine. It feels very soothing on the skin, rubs in easily, gives off no greasy or film-y finish, and is super lightweight. I recommend it if you have dry/sensitive/reactive skin types, but also for oily and acne prone skin types.

How To Use Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Water Cream Moisturizer

If you’re wanting to know how to apply the Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Water Cream, it’s fairly simple. Just use it like you would any other moisturizer. But where does this moisturizer fit into your routine? Just follow the thinnest to thickest rule. Meaning thinner products like toners, serums, essences, etc. all go first (if you use them). Then apply your moisturizer. If you use an oil, apply the water cream first, then the facial oil.

Oat So Simple can be used 2x a day, morning at night. Just apply it like you would any other moisturizer. And that’s it!

Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Moisturizer Review: Wrap Up

Krave Beauty’s oat so simple water cream is a good moisturizer that will hydrate your skin. It feels nice and light on the skin, with no greasy or tacky feeling left behind. It’s a great moisturizer for those with oily, dehydrated, combination and sensitive skin types and could be the only moisturizer you need. However, drier skin types likely won’t find this moisturizing enough and will need to use it with another product like another moisturizer on top or a facial oil.

I hope you found my Review for Krave Beauty’s Oat So Simple Water Cream Moisturizer helpful! It’s quickly become one of my favorite products, especially since my skin has become more sensitive while dealing with perioral dermatitis.
